Mike started practicing law in Forest Grove in 1972. He had been educated in Oregon schools graduating from Grant High School in 1965, Portland State University in 1969 and the University of Oregon School of Law in 1972.
Mike has been active in the Oregon State and Washington County Bar Associations. During the first decade of law practice, he conducted a general practice. Over the past 20 years, Mike's practice has been limited to matters related to estate planning and administration, small business organization and operation, real property law and nonprofit organizations.
In describing his approach to law practice, he says, "Living and working in a small town environment has shaped my law practice. My focus has been on developing community relationships and long-term client relationships. Nonprofit organizations that have utilized our services include Adelante Mujeres, the Gaston Public Library, Forest Grove Farmers Market, Centro Cultural, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation, Education Foundation of Forest Grove and the Forest Grove Library Foundation. I always welcome a new client with the intention of forming a foundation for a lasting relationship. Whether the engagement is large or small and whether the contacts are frequent or sporadic, we intend that our office will be a welcoming place where our clients can come for competent responsive representation."
A native of Yamhill County, Lucas leapt at the opportunity to come to Forest Grove. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in Economics, Lucas attended law school at Lewis and Clark to pursue interests in tax and business. Throughout law school, he developed a foundation in contract and corporate law by clerking with in-house counsel for a growing tech-company, later becoming their Contracts Administrator.
As a shareholder with Moore & Welliver, Lucas leverages his experience to complement the firm's business practice. Aware of the litigious landscape facing small business owners, he "hope[s] to be an extra set of eyes looking for those small fixes that can avoid bigger problems down the road."
During his three years in law school, Lucas spent his Saturdays volunteering with Minds Matter of Portland, whose mission is to assist accomplished high school students from low-income families and prepare them for college success. Lucas is actively involved with the Rotary Club of Forest Grove, and divides his remaining time playing ping pong, practicing piano and accordion, or rooting for the Portland Trailblazers and Portland Timbers.
Jayme graduated from Gaston High School in 1984 and began working with the firm in 1988. She supervises the staff and assists the firm's attorneys in ensuring that work product is produced accurately and on time. Her primary focus is on the firm's ongoing probate practice.
The firm's attorneys consider her to be a vital member of the professional team and rely on her expertise developed over her career with the firm.
